Give This A Try – A Meditation for Sitting In The Power

Below is a meditation I do daily that grounds me and reminds me that I’m always with my Higher Self, Guides, and Source/Light/God.  This type of meditation is also referred to as Sitting In The Power.  Or sitting in YOUR power.  This simply means you are elevating your vibration to where you are no longer “your body” or your “human story”.  You are remembering who you really are and you feel the vibration of love and light instead of the denser vibrations of Earth.

Anyone can do this – so I hope you give a try!

Before I begin any meditation I do two things:
-Ground my energy to Earth
-Surround myself in white light

To do this, sit comfortably and close your eyes.  Take a deep breath of air into your abdomen, letting it fill up like a balloon, and visualize the breath filling your whole body.  Hold the breath for a few seconds.  Let the breath slowly out of your mouth (almost like you’re blowing through a straw). It should take you twice as long to breathe out as it did to breathe in.  A long breath out releases any energy that no longer serves you.  Do this a couple times, and give yourself permission to let your brain take a break while you do this meditation.

Now feel the sensation of the ground below your feet.  This will open up the chakras in the soles of your feet.  Image roots coming out of your feet, traveling down through the Earth, until they reach the center of the Earth and wrap around it.  Now the light travels back UP through the roots from the center of the Earth, into your feet, and up your body.

Finally, simply set the intention, aloud or in your mind, that you are surrounded by white light.  This welcomes only positive energy into your energy field and sets the intention for the highest good to come from this meditation.  I also thank and acknowledge my guides and angels that are always around me.

Now that you are relaxed, grounded, and open, here’s the simple breathing meditation for Sitting In The Power.

With eyes still closed, simply take a breath in – and let it out when it feels natural.  No forced breathing.  Let your breath flow in and out as naturally and relaxed as you can.

As you are breathing in and out, begin to watch your breath.  Where is it entering your body?  Through your nose?  Through your abdomen?  Through your heart?  Through your feet?   Does it move where it enters and where it leaves?  Follow the breath.  Follow it coming in….and going out.

Then begin to notice the GAP between each breath.  Notice the slight and natural pause of where the breath comes in….pause….then flows out….pause…then flows in…pause…then out.

There is a moment during the cycle of breath that you seem to not breathe in or out.  You simple are Being.  Feel that small gap in your breath and simply watch it.  As you feel the gap, invite the gap to expand around you and grow larger.

After you’ve watched your breath for a while, begin to imagine you are breathing in light from the center of your body.  It could be from your abdomen or your heart.  And as you simply watch the breath…no pressure…you are breathing in light and breathing out light…and you are expanding it all around you.  The light fills your body, then it overflows out of your body. Continue watching where the breath comes in and where it goes.

Do this for as long as feels comfortable.  Your human brain will naturally have thoughts.  That is fine and to be expected.  Like the breath, just let the thoughts bubble up and watch them pass you by.  The brain is just doing it’s job. But you are not your brain.  Don’t interact with the thoughts – just watch them as you would a bubble.  They rise up, then they pop and go away.  Return your thoughts to the breath.

Now this is where it gets even more fun.  As you are relaxing into watching your breath, you begin to get more and more detached from your BODY.  You can start to wonder softly to yourself (not from the brain but rather in your heart or expanded mind) :

What is the breath?
Where does it come from?
If “you” are not consciously making or forcing yourself to take a breath in, then what is?
What Source is breathing you?
What is the force that is coming into your abdomen, your heart, your body?
Where does it come from?  Where does it go?
Allow yourself to BE BREATHED.

Be curious about your breath in a relaxed and detached way.  Let it wash over you.

Soon you are lulled into a state of being breathed.  Like the tide of the ocean, you are rising and falling.  You are expanding into a vast sea of light.
Continue to do this as long as you’d like.  Get to know this feeling of expansiveness.

This is the state of Sitting In The Power.  Of knowing that you are not simply a body.  You are so much more.  “You” are actually a vast sea of light bubbling up from Source/God.  You don’t have to reach out to find this Source or God – because it is flowing IN you.  You’re surrounded in it, submerged in it, and created by it. You are this Light.  You’re connected to everyone through this Light.

By treating yourself to this time every day, you will begin to open up to your Higher Self, Guides, and Source/Universe/God.  This feeling can then spill over into your everyday life. Your intuition will increase.  Your connection to Spirit will increase.  And your body will be rejuvenated, grounded, and healthy.

Discovering who you really are and finding alignment with that Source is the best present you could give yourself.  Remember there is no wrong or right way to do this.  Just sitting in silence is a gift to yourself.  See where it leads you.

I chose the image of clouds with sun beams coming through for my header photo because this is sometimes how I see this meditation working.  When things in this human life we live get heavy, the clouds can seem to surround you.  Yet the light is always there. You as a Soul are always just fine.  Sitting In The Power reminds us that our Light can break through any cloud.
Now go “be breathed” and remember how perfect you are.  Merry Christmas!

In gratitude,
Nicki
